In this series, our experts, scholars, and professionals dive into critical topics surrounding the EU and its policies toward candidate countries. In our next video, Isabell Burmester shares valuable insights on a key question:
Why is the REUNIR project topical?
Last December, the EU took a historic step by opening accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova, while granting Georgia a candidate status. After more than 20 years of the EU Neighbourhood Policy, this decision marks an important shift in the dynamics of EU enlargement. This is where REUNIR becomes essential. Our project addresses the complex risks and uncertainties facing the EU in this region, from military and socioeconomic challenges to democratic risks. By providing in-depth analysis, REUNIR will equip the EU with targeted policy recommendations, helping navigate these evolving dynamics and secure a stable future for both current and aspiring member states.
