On 13 May 2025, REUNIR took part in the InvigoratEU Mid-Term Conference in Brussels, titled “The Future of EU Enlargement: Building a Stronger and Safer Europe.” The event brought together leading policymakers, researchers, and civil society representatives to explore key dimensions of EU enlargement, with a focus on strengthening democracy, enhancing resilience, and fostering regional cohesion across the European neighbourhood.
Among the distinguished participants were Dr. Tinatin Akhvlediani, Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), and Iulian Groza, Executive Director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE).
Tinatin Akhvlediani served as moderator of the panel “Strengthening democracy in fragile EU neighbourhood contexts,” and guided a thought-provoking discussion on the EU’s role in supporting democratic resilience in regions facing political and institutional instability. Her leadership in the session helped highlight the challenges and opportunities facing candidate and potential candidate countries.
Iulian Groza contributed as a key voice in dialogues and exchanges throughout the conference, offering his insights on Moldova’s European path and the broader implications of enlargement for the Eastern Partnership. His active engagement underscored REUNIR’s commitment to advancing inclusive and informed enlargement debates.
The conference served as an important platform to assess progress, share research, and reinforce collective efforts toward a stronger, more united Europe. REUNIR remains dedicated to contributing evidence-based perspectives to this ongoing process.
