On 15 May 2024, Maastricht University hosted a workshop in Brussels on the draft conceptual and methodological papers of REUNIR WP2. Researchers from 7 contributing partner organizations participated in the event which was led by UM scholars Gergana Noutcheva and Assem Dandashly. They clarified the definitions of the main concepts of the project – risk and uncertainty and protean and control power – and how to apply them to the three domains of research – security, economy and democracy. The participants also discussed the main steps of the strategic foresight to be conducted in WPs 3-5, involving threats scans in the three empirical domains of REUNIR research and identifying ways of improving the EU’s toolbox for addressing those threats.
